Hello!

My name is Helen Toluwa (Tolu for short) and this is my 365 cook-a-thon!

My daily adventure of creating food that is tasty, healthy and attractive, and yet sugar, gluten and dairy and soy and yeast free.

My aim is to create one new recipe per day for a year.

A delicious recipe!

And on an ordinary mum’s budget.

A challenge indeed!

I am a food enthusiast, photographer, traveller, mother of a gorgeous 5 year old (who blogs over here), and lover of all things beautiful. I work with a charity I helped to set up in 2004, which has built a children’s village for orphans and destitute children in Uganda (http://www.kampalachildren.com).

I am passionate about eating and living wholesomely and re-discovering the healthy patterns, lifestyles, foods, insights and practices that have been so lost in western industrialised society.

I’m an experimental cook. The things I cook I make usually start as ideas rather than recipes!
I like to imagine ingredients together into delectable concoctions – that way the meal is a bit of a surprise nearly every time I cook!

Where possible, I buy locally produced, organic and fairtrade.

This blog is a space where I document my journey, the things that I learn, the delicious recipes that I create, (if they are less than delicious I will work on them till they are!) and the beautiful things that I discover, and will hopefully become a resource to others looking for gluten, sugar, dairy and soy free recipes.

Although I eat mostly vegetarian meals I also often entertain and so will also sometimes add meat and fish to recipes. Sometimes I will also add cheese yoghurt or chocolate for those not following a diary free diet but these will always be optional to the recipe

    • I don’t tend to blog every day – I cook all week and then blog when I have time. But I am enjoying the challenge!

  5. Hi Helen. Your blog is amazing. I love your recipes. Your Lemon Coconut Loaf recipes has been a real life saver for me (except I’ve had to leave out the lemon)… for the first time in 2 years I now have “bread” I can eat. Thank you!!!!!

    • Thank you Lise. I am so glad that you have enjoyed this recipe. I will have to try it without the lemon too. I have had to take some time off from blogging recently as my son has been unwell. But I have new recipes and I hope to start posting them again soon.
